At Feddema Strategies, we love to nurture great ideas. And when that light bulb of inspiration fires up, we provide critical strategic thinking, situation assessment, project design and spade work to create impact where you need it most. We serve single client organizations or are often at the intersection of for-profit, nonprofit and civic organizations to help them work together for mutual and community benefit. Our expertise lies in interconnected and complementary focus areas: strategic planning and counsel, marketing, partnerships and sponsorships, internal and external communications and robust community relations – and our unique cross-sector experience seeds results.
Who We Are
Feddema Strategies was founded by Laurel Feddema after more than 30 years of senior experience in for- and nonprofit organizations. Her strengths are nimble curiosity, strong client relationships, and the ability to quickly provide crucial insights from a wide variety of client info streams. Laurel spent three years at Second Harvest Heartland as Chief Community Engagement Officer, leading Marketing, Communications, Field Services, PR and Advocacy for this growing and innovative $21 million human services organization.
In prior corporate experience, Laurel directed Community Relations Marketing for Marshall Field’s/Target, designing and marketing community relations activities—sponsorships and events, grants and outreach programs–in Field’s eight-state territory. She also held a variety of leadership positions at hospitality and financial services companies, including U.S. Bancorp where she was Senior Vice President of Sponsorship and Event Marketing and Vice President of Community Relations. She served as President of the U.S. Bancorp Foundation for three years, overseeing grant making to more than 1,200 nonprofits nationwide.
Laurel’s experience also includes founding and running Steppingstone Consulting for eight years, where she provided strategic counsel and project implementation in community relations, sponsorship and partnership marketing, project management, and marketing and communications for a who’s who client list.
Laurel has served on a number of Twin Cities nonprofit boards including: MAP for Nonprofits (chair), Washburn Center for Children (vice chair), The Citizens League, Twin Cities LISC, University of Minnesota Cancer Center Advisory Board, and Saint Mary’s University Alumni Board.
